Apartment Hunting in times of Covid-19: A Short Story.

Unfortunately for many the need to find a home is not something they can put off, and for those of you who that is the case, I am here to help. One might ask though, how has apartment hunting changed when we can no longer go and tour? Surprisingly, not much has changed regarding the overall process. Read on for more information on what to expect when you are apartment hunting during quarantine.

How things have changed:

  1. Tours are now conducted strictly via facetime tours, zoom meetings, or no-contact tours where they will give you keys to go tour the model on your own.
  2. Leasing offices are all closed to the public in person. The only way to reach them is by email or phone in which a tour can be set up
  3. Instead of meeting in person at a coffeeshop to go over availability on the day of your tour, we will schedule a call instead to discuss our findings. From there, you will video tour with your prospective properties via scheduled video calls. We can join you on these calls or you can complete them at your own leisure. Technically we call this a “send” tour which allows the same benefits of using a locator, just a more independent experience. However, be sure to let your property know that you heard of them from a locator, and dont forget to put them down as your referral source on your application!

We are all affected by this pandemic, but I am happy to be of service to you now more than ever in your apartment hunting needs. If you find yourself in need of economic assistance, check out my previous post for resources.

The New Normal?

Suddenly it seems that life has changed for everyone in the world in a matter of days, and I must solemnly recognize that fact for both myself and my clients. One thing I have always loved doing in my career in Real Estate is acting as a mediator for those with interest in certain things, whether that be giving advice on where to find the best cocktails or connecting clients with other people in their job field they aspire to enter. However, with times being what they are with layoffs, furloughs, quarantines, sometimes these desires are overshadowed by base needs that we all have. If you find yourself in need of resources, please do not hesitate to contact me by clicking HERE and writing what resources you are seeking/in need of during this difficult time in the text box at the bottom of the form. I will be happy to assist anyone with their search for any public resources to my full extent and knowledge of the subject. As your locator, agent, and friend I am always happy to serve you in any way I can, whether that be finding your next home or helping you find your next meal in a time of hardship.

Below I have compiled a list of a few resources that I am aware of that may help in this trying time. Again, do not hesitate to reach out in the above link with any other inquiries.

Texas Unemployment

Unemployment or low employment hours are a very real thing right now that has affected me and many of my loved ones around me. No one is socioeconomically untouched by this Pandemic, so sometimes to stay afloat we need to keep our options open for state and federal aid. If you this is a resource you are interested in, just know that due to high volume the best time to get through and submit an unemployment claim is between the hours of 10pm and 8 am.
